Aquest treball pretén establir la presència o absència de les selenoproteïnes SelN i GPx o els seus homòlegs amb cisteïna en determinats genomes de protistes seqüenciats i publicats darrerament.
Hem obtingut les seqüències proteiques d'aquestes dues selenoproteïnes de la base de dades
SelenoDB i les hem usat com a queries en els
alineaments. Per la cerca i comprovació de hits hem utilitzat les eines tBLASTn, Exonerate, Genewise i TCofee en els genomes assignats.
En aquells genomes que han semblat contenir gens de
selenoproteïnes hem buscat també elements SECIS i proteïnes descrites com a components de la
maquinària de síntesi (SecS) i incorporació (SBP2, SecP43) de
selenocisteïna.
Aquí presentem els resultats en format web interactiu, de manera que es pugin consultar còmodament.

Abstract
The aim of this project is to unveil the presence or absence of the selenoproteins SelN and GPx or that of their cysteine-containing homologues in certain recently-published protist's genomes.
The protein sequences have been taken from SelenoDB database and we have used them as queries to doing alignments and searching hits in the assigned genomes using software such as tBLASTn, Exonerate, Genewise and TCofee.
In those genomes reported as selenocysteine-coding, we have sought
SECIS elements and proteins previously described as components
of the machinery for selenocysteine's synthesis (SecS)
and its incorporation (SBP2, SecP43).
We show the results in an interactive web format, so you can easily check them.
