Let me see the selenoproteome!

About

Selenoproteins are usually incorrectly annotated. Most of the selenoprotein genes were discovered by bioinformatics approaches, searching for SECIS elements downstream of in-frame UGA codons. This is a project done by 4th year students of the degree Human Biology of Pompeu Fabra University in which we had to analyse the genome of a recently sequenced specie in order to find selenoproteins. For this purpose, we have used the knowledge acquired during the Bioinformatics course in order to design a programme and to present our results in a webpage format. Part of this practical work includes also the addition of information in the Wikipedia.
