AIMS

The aim of this project is based in the study of three human selenoproteins to be able to analyze single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Nothing is known about the intraspecific variability of the selenoprotein genes and their polymorphism is particularly relevant since it could impair their function.

The objective of this project is to map three chosen selenoproteins in the human genome, including the SecIS element.
We are also looking for SNPs affecting for instance the UGA codon, splicing processes, or SecIS elements that could be related to some kind or specific disease.
