In order to make this project, we relied on some of the Internet databases which offer free acces to the hughe amount of information related to the human genome
The selenoproteins were chosen from a list which included most of the human selenoproteins that have been already identified.
Even though approximately 30 selenoproteins have been already sequenced, the choice was limited up to 20 candidates, due to the homology existent among 2 of the selenoprotein families: GPx (6 members) and TR (3 members). This degree of homology made it difficult to study one of these proteins.
Here we present a list of the main databases used to find the gene sequences:

Goldenpath: Human Genome Browser Gateway
Project Ensemble: Ensembl Genome Browser
National Center for Biotechnology Information: NCBI |
