[FUNCTION] CATALYTIC PART OF CAK WHICH ACTIVATES CYCLIN-ASSOCIATED
CDC2/CDK2/CDK4 BY THREONINE PHOSPHORYLATION. ITS EXPRESSION AND
ACTIVITY ARE CONSTANT THROUGHOUT THE CELL CYCLE. CAK IS TIGHTLY
ASSOCIATED WITH A MULTIPROTEIN COMPLEX TFIIH, WHICH PLAYS A DUAL
ROLE IN TRANSCRIPTION AND DNA REPAIR.
[ENZYME REGULATION] PHOSPHORYLATION AT T-170 IS REQUIRED FOR
            ENZYMATIC ACTIVITY (BY SIMILARITY).
[SUBUNIT] MAMMALIAN CAK CONTAINS THREE COMPONENTS: CDK7, CYCLIN H,
AND AN ASSEMBLY FACTOR CALLED MAT1.
            [SUBCELLULAR LOCATION] NUCLEAR (BY SIMILARITY).
[SIMILARITY] BELONGS TO THE SER/THR FAMILY OF PROTEIN KINASES.
            CDC2/CDKX SUBFAMILY.
